Bringing you the perfect dose of city chic sunshine from a talented team of equality-minded . creatives at this sensational wedding venue in the city of London – The Barbican Conservatory. It is a breath of fresh air for couples who want something different and to move away from dreary dark function rooms in the basement of hotels.

The Barbican is an epicentre for creativity. It is a renowned performing arts hub with impressive architecture that showcases everything from contemporary to classics, from theatre to world class musicians and they have an exceptional wedding space which is the perfect backdrop for this nature city chic shoot.

The creative team met at Nu Bride The Wedding Show to bring you this inspiration and it is a pleasure to be able to share what happens when talented like-minded creatives meet.
Over to wonderful London and destination wedding photographer Luisa Starling who spearheaded the shoot for the low down and the inspiration behind the shoot. And these images – swoon!

After Nu Bride The Wedding Show, my heart was so full of inspiration! Plus, I had just met amazing vendors and artists that I couldn’t wait to work with.

(The talented team!)

I put a wonderful and amazing team together to work on a concept tropical inspired styled shoot in Barbican Conservatory and this is the result!

I am so proud that through Nu Bride we were able to get together and put on a shoot like this. Also, each team member had total freedom to do as they pleased to make the concept come to life.

Our models for the day were Lizzy and David and they were so goofy and sweet with each other. They had great chemistry it is hard to believe they are just friends!

The inspiration simply came from David our model and make up artists jacket!

Each vendor had total freedom to create and show what they can do. Lizzy’s dress was one of the show stoppers from sustainability leaders; House of Bilimoria a Luxury Upcycle Atelier in London that creates bespoke clothing made for women and children handcrafted with love from repurposed materials.

Hair was done by Nu Bride The Wedding Show hair stylist the incredible Bunmi of Avos Hair and our groom David was also our incredible make up artist for the day.

Did you choose the venue or did the venue choose you?

I’ve always had the dream to shoot weddings at the Barbican Conservatory.

It’s that perfect venue inside the city of London where no matter where you point at, either architecture or nature make every photographer’s dream come true!

So after I met Alexia at Nu Bride and we spoke about the Barbican I felt like the universe was sending me an opportunity I could not run away from and I was invited to be a preferred supplier at the venue.

I felt I wanted celebrate it with a styled shoot there, and here we are!

So I don’t know if the Barbican chose me or if I chose it. All I know is that the Universe wanted it to happen, it sent the magic towards my way, and I grabbed it!

What did you love about shooting at the Barbican?

The venue is marvellous.

It has loads of natural light, it’s that perfect combo of architecture meets nature, and has a magical feeling to it. Kinda like nature-takes-over-city-chic!

I’ve seen what the planning team can do with it for every single event, and how they can adapt to meet their couples needs and styles and it’s such a unique place.

Also, it has fish, living turtles, and a cactus private area that is so and so lovely!

Outside of the Conservatory, there are also lots of other wonderful spaces in the venue, and every corner takes such great photos. From high-end to alternative, it is a space that can suit every couple.
